The Ring Is In The Zipper

The Ring Is In The Zipper, coming in February of 2023, is the sophomore album featuring selections paying tribute to Al Mazelis, a longtime friend, mentor, and all-around among the best of humans. Al passed away in February 2021 and left a large void in the hearts of many, including the core and soul of the Grooves to Chaos family. This tribute album is being released on the 2nd anniversary of his passing - the price of $5.14 is Al's birthday (May 14) and $1.14 of each sale goes into a college fund for his son, Max.
The first single from The Ring is in The Zipper due for release on November 2, 2022 - Title of Your Sax Tape is a fun, jazzy piece that is sure to toss your head from side to side while your fingers snap unconsciously. Of course, the title is influenced heavily by the running joke on Brooklyn 99. A simple promise to you, the listener, if you don't like the song, I will eat a piece of crispy bacon, guaranteed. The title track was a long-running inside joke about Al's wedding day, and how we made sure to not lose the rings. A much longer and more detailed story is associated with this, but here's the short version. The song itself was composed a bit supernaturally. The decision to write a song by this name just came from the universe, written in less than 48 hours - the waltz was an attempt to recreate the moment and the joy of the first dance Al and Laura shared at their wedding. Upon completing the rough draft, it was sent to Laura for approval, at which time we were made aware that tomorrow would be their 25th wedding anniversary. If you believe in souls, then you have no doubt that Al reached out through Grooves to Chaos to compose a wonderful 25th Anniversary gift for his wife - still the most thoughtful person I know even after he's passed on from this world. |
